AI help and the AI image creator

Ask Embella (F1) answers "how do I…?" questions from this help center. With an OpenAI (or Anthropic) API key in Settings → AI, it writes step-by-step answers for your exact question.

AI image creator (AI Image on the ribbon) needs an OpenAI API key:

  1. Describe the picture ("a smiling sunflower with two leaves").
  2. Pick a style (logo, appliqué, patch, cartoon, line art…) and how many thread colors.
  3. Click Create. Embella asks for flat, clean artwork that digitizes well.
  4. Click Auto-digitize it to turn it into stitches, or Use as backdrop to trace to digitize it by hand.

Your API key stays on your computer and is only sent to the AI service.

Auto-digitize learns from you. When you export designs or change a shape between satin and fill, Embella learns which stitch type you like for which shapes and uses that next time. If you also choose to share anonymous learning data (Settings, or your account page), everyone's auto-digitizing improves.
