The Quilt Block Center
Open it with Quilt on the ribbon.
Design a block. Start from the library (Ohio Star, Sawtooth Star, Churn Dash, Log Cabin and more) or a blank grid.
- Paint fabric: click a patch to give it the selected fabric. Click a fabric's color square to change its color, and type over its name.
- Piecing: choose a unit (half-square triangle, quarter-square triangle, flying geese, square-in-a-square, snowball, corner, strips) and click a square. Click again to turn it 90°.
- Merge / split: drag across squares to make one bigger piece (for strips and large squares); click a merged piece to split it again.
Cutting chart. Set the finished size and seam allowance. The chart lists every piece to cut, with the usual quilting rules: squares and strips plus two seams, half-square triangles from squares 7/8" larger, quarter-square triangles from squares 1 1/4" larger, and snowball corners sewn on and flipped. It also estimates yardage. Print cutting sheet & templates makes a PDF, with full-size templates for unusual shapes.
Sew it in the hoop. Choose a quilting design and a seam-cover width, then Make in-the-hoop design. You get a new design whose color stops are the steps: batting, placement and tack-down for each fabric, quilting, satin seam covers, and a cut line for joining blocks quilt-as-you-go.
Quilting designs anywhere. In the main window, the Quilting toolbox fills any selected shape (or the whole hoop) with stipple, meander, echo, crosshatch, grid, waves, clamshells, pebbles or a spiral.
