Drawing and digitizing

Tools are in the Digitize toolbox (left) and on the ribbon: - Pen / Digitize (P): left click = corner point, right click = curve point, drag = handles. Finish with Enter or a middle click (wheel click); Ctrl+Enter or clicking the first point closes the shape; Backspace removes the last point; Esc cancels. - Line (L), Rectangle (R), Ellipse (E), Polygon (G), Star (S): drag. Shift keeps it square / 45°; Alt draws from the center. - Freehand (D): hold the mouse button and draw. Settings: Streamline steadies a shaky hand (the line trails the cursor by a distance; drawing speed makes no difference), Smoothing softens the finished stroke, Taper start / Taper end narrow the ends to a point. - Shape: Auto / Open / Closed. Open = an outline with two ends (sewn as a line); Closed = an enclosed area (filled). Auto: rectangles etc. are closed, the pen closes when you click its first point, freehand when you end near the start. - Change an existing object: select it and click Open or Closed (Object Properties, or the Shape row in the Digitize box with the Select tool). Open turns a fill into an outline; Closed closes a line and fills it.
